November 5th, 2018, Adam turned a quarter of a century! Celebrating his 25th birthday had me thinking back to the very first birthday we celebrated together. Adam’s 21st birthday came around right as we started going on dates. My roommates and I were invited to Adam’s 21st birthday party at his house with all of his roommates and tons of other people that wanted to celebrate him. The party was great! Good drinks, great company and stupid guys jumping over the bonfire. I even remember my roommate being brave enough to do a keg stand for the first time ever.
The night was fun. The best part was sometime late into the night when Adam motioned for me to come sit next to him by the fire. How could I say no to the birthday boy? I went and sat beside him as the fire glowed in front of us. I’m not sure what we talked about but during the conversation I didn’t notice or think about anything or anyone else besides him. At the point when I looked around and no one was outside besides us. It was an outside party. Everyone was around the fire enjoying the perfect fall weather. Then all of a sudden Adam and I had the whole backyard, glowing fire and the stars all to ourselves.
I remember feeling so happy. Simply comfortable, as if all was right in the world. I don’t remember what happened after that. I guess I wished him a happy birthday and parted ways for the night. But what I do remember was as soon as I got back to my house with my roommates I quickly found out that we were being spied on!
When all the party goers saw me sit by Adam they slowly started to retreat inside to give Adam a romantic scene. All of our close friends knew that we had been on a few dates but had not had our first kiss. They thought this would be the best way for Adam to end his 21st birthday. Our friends stayed inside watching us talk through a bedroom window waiting for Adam to plant one on me. We ended the night without a kiss, but I knew I was starting to like this guy more and more.
Adams 22nd birthday we tried out an ‘adult’ restaurant in town! We dressed up so fancy and thought we were so mature. For his 23rd birthday we went to the other fancy restaurant in town called Mom and Dad’s. Adam got a one on one lesson on how to make the best old fashion from the greatest bar tender we have come across! Once his 24th birthday came, we grabbed our good friends Rebecca and Jacob Chesser and David and Joanna and headed to The Draw. Adams 25th we took a hardcore Sabbath. For Adams Quarter of a Century celebration he wanted to be still. To rest. To sleep in and to breathe.
Honestly, I can’t blame him. Adams 24th year has been my favorite. It’s the year that I got to see him as my boyfriend, my fiancé and my husband. I got to watch him overcome so much through his job. He took some of the hardest classes he has ever been challenged with and he overcame even when odds were not in his favor. He opened up, talked deeper and dreamed bigger than I have ever seen. His 24th year of life was a busy one! The best way for him to start his new year was to have a full day of rest.
I cannot wait to watch his 25th year of life unfold and to share it with you!
Thanks for tuning in!
Keep your head up high and your words filled with love.
